Concrete Paving

Portland Cement Concrete Pavement - The Superior Pavement

  • The smooth, hard surface of Portland cement concrete pavement reduces fuel consumption for trucks by an average of 11 percent, which in turn reduces greenhouse gas emissions and smog.
  • Today's concrete pavements are typically designed to last 25 to 30 years, but some are built to last up to 50 years.
  • The durability of concrete allows trucks to maintain full weight all year round, even during spring thaw. Commuters experience fewer delays because concrete pavement highways require less maintenance and repair. High volume truck traffic corridors are most suitable for concrete paving.
  • The hard surface of concrete pavement does not allow tire ruts, thereby minimizing the risk of hydroplaning.
